The most dangerous bugs are often invisible.
If a feature crashes — users notice quickly.
If backend goes down — alerts fire immediately.
But analytics problems can silently survive in production for months.
And during those months teams continue making decisions based on incorrect assumptions.
That’s the dangerous part.
I’ve seen cases where:
• duplicated events inflated conversion numbers
• one platform tracked different timing than another
• fallback values silently masked implementation issues
• experiments were analyzed on inconsistent datasets
• onboarding funnels were measuring events instead of actual user progression
The dashboards still looked “professional”.
Charts existed.
Numbers moved.
Reports were shared.
Nothing obviously looked broken.
AI-generated code makes this even riskier.
Because the implementation often looks correct during review while introducing subtle behavioral inconsistencies underneath.
And unlike visible bugs, analytics issues rarely create urgency.
They quietly distort product decisions over time.
Sometimes fixing tracking quality creates more business impact than shipping another feature.
